Swiss voters have decisively rejected a constitutional initiative aimed at enforcing a rigid doctrine of neutrality.

The proposal sought to codify an "eternal and armed" neutrality.

It would have banned military alliances and blocked sanctions lacking United Nations approval.

This decisive outcome preserves the government’s strategic latitude.

Switzerland retains full discretion to interpret its policy flexibly and uphold existing sanctions against Russia.

Researchers led by the Duke Quantum Center have successfully simulated string-breaking dynamics on a trapped-ion quantum computer.

Published September 23 in Nature Physics, the experiment modeled how particle-antiparticle pairs spontaneously materialize when connecting bonds snap under extreme tension.

Lead researcher Christopher Monroe noted that quantum hardware offers an unprecedented platform for probing fundamental matter formation.

The international collaboration marks a pioneering milestone, demonstrating the practical utility of quantum processors in investigating complex physical phenomena.
